I have decided on my Action Research project with the help of my principal and assistant principal.  I will examine the effectiveness of my district's new math fact fluency program, which was implemented last year.  My study will include the current second graders and track them through the end of third grade.

  1. I am very excited to see how you plan out your research. My stomach is in knots trying to finalize my plan :( My thoughts had been to see the benefit that adding a supplemental fact fluency program would have on the math curriculum. I think your question is clear and concise on seeing the effectiveness of the program you have in place. Good luck!

  2. Thanks, Bonnie! I met with my principal and assistant principal today and they really helped by walking me through my plan. They suggested I to narrow my target population to just our economically disadvantaged. Even though that will be what I do my project on, I will have access to the data for all our students. I would like to have an overall feel for our program.

I am working on typing up my plan... Hope to have it posted in the next day or so. Thanks for your support!

  3. Great idea! Math is such a critical area and STAAR exam is so new. Tracking the students and drilling down to the part of the TEK that they need the most improvement in will be fantastic. The new math fact fluency program will be an excellent tool,I really hope that the students show tremendous growth.

    1. Thanks, Kanika! Already in our second year of implementing this program, I can see a difference in just my classes with them having had exposure to the program in first! I am excited to start gathering my data!
